Less than a Grocery Store – Friday Etcetera

Often I’ve mentioned the increased pricing of Gluten-Free foods over non-gluten free foods. I’m specifically speaking about convenience foods packaged in boxes, cans, frozen and refrigerated food items. While my focus is on grocery store shopping with lower to moderate GF pricing options, there are even lower priced GF shopping at stores considered to be …

  • Wholesale closeouts
  • Surplus merchandise
  • Warehouse overstocks
  • Salvage merchandise
  • Store liquidations
  • Excess inventory
  • Closeout overruns

Most larger communities have these unadvertised stores near their community. Generally these shopping options have a limited selection of GF items. When you do find something appealing, it can be a “gem” and with a deep discount, it is in your cart before you know it. Always check the “use by date” and that the packaging is not damaged. If it is a GF product unfamiliar to me, I ask myself is this a price I’m willing to pay if I hate it once I tried it. Don’t totally block out this GF shopping option. I have made new GF food friends with some of this merchandise and later found it in regularly priced grocery stores.
