GF Celebrities – Friday Etcetera

Denise Austin, Fitness Expert

Reading one of my favorite woman’s magazine I read a brief sidebar that “Fitness legend Denise Austin loves these gluten-free protein cookie bites ….” I know many of you are saying, “who is Denise Austin?” I recall the name only. It started me thinking, what other ‘famous’ people are supposedly gluten-free and why. I re-read the excerpt later in the day and realized the statement did not say Denise Austin was gluten-free. By then I did a quick online research that took me to InStyle that listed 14 Celebrities Who Don’t Eat Gluten.

I am generally not interested in “celebrities”. The partial list (7) I share with you hopefully will be more interesting to you than it was to me as I may have heard their names but not their works. I will capsulize their comments from this article.

Kourtney Kardashian – In 2016, she put herself and her kids on both a gluten- and dairy-free diet. I have noticed a great positive change in the behavior with my children when we stick to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. We had muscle testing done, which showed we all have sensitivities to corn, gluten and dairy.

Ryan Phillippe – He was told by his doctors that he has trouble digesting wheat so he decided to change his diet. He says, “Do you want the enjoyment but then have to deal with the reaction from your body?” While he has given up beer, he still drinks potato vodka and red wine.

Jessica Alba – She purports she was allergic to so many foods and anything with seeds. She now follows a gluten-free diet due to her wheat intolerance, and tries to do the same with her kids.

Miley Cyrus – who is a vegetarian; is also allergic to both gluten and lactose. She says, It’s not about weight it’s about health.”

Katy Perry – In 2014, she reveals that she stopped eating wheat. “You get to a certain age, and one day your doctor of Chinese medicine tells you you’re allergic to gluten.”

Victoria Beckham – known for sticking to restrictive eating habits, credits her gluten-free diet for staying in shape.

Emmy Rossum – has followed a gluten-free diet for years due to a wheat allergy, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t eat sweets.
