Metro Diner Goes GF – Friday Etcetera

Metro Diner was first opened here in Jacksonville, Florida in 1938; but officially branded in 1992 as the Metro Diner. Today, Metro Diner has over 50 locations in 12 states. Hence why I am sharing this information.

Metro Diner is now offering “gluten-friendly” meals. Note the term “gluten-friendly” and not gluten-free. As discussed previously in the IHOP blog, it is that these meals are prepared in the kitchen where wheat products exists. Therefore, this situation could be harmful to those with celiac disease.

Check this information:

Breakfast Burger: 100% Angus burger, cheddar cheese, hash browns, lettuce, tomato, bacon, an egg any style and Hollandaise sauce stacked on a Gluten-Free bun.

Western Omelet: Ham, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and peppers, topped with salsa. Ask for gluten-free toast.

Avocado Breakfast Sandwich: Scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon and avocado with lettuce, tomato and mayo on gluten-free toast.

Metro Club: Ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato and mayo on three slices of gluten-free toast.

Lemon Dill Salmon: Seared salmon, seasoned with lemon and dill. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Ask for no gravy.

Are you happy to see ‘gluten-free bread’? Have I made you hungry?
